frequently asked questions

These are meant to help you get all the info you may need before booking — but please never hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any specific questions or concerns! I’m here to help.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SHOOTING STYLE?

My photography style can be described as “storytelling,” or “documentary.” I’ll spend time hanging out with my couples, making them feel as comfortable and confident as possible through each and every element of their day, and capture the authentic moments as they unfold naturally. I love snagging shots of movement, involuntary laughter, a stolen kiss or two in a brief private moment, instead of opting for stiff poses and heavily directed shots (but don’t worry, I’ll still help you figure out what to do with your hands lol)

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO MY SESSION?

Bring your best self! Other than that, you can bring whatever you’d like! I often suggest bringing something that holds meaning to you and/or your relationship. Feel free to bring multiple outfits if you’d like! If you need outfit or styling suggestions, just let me know, I’d love to help you decide whether or not to wear a hat (the answer is always yes). I can and usually will bring additional props or decor depending on the session, or anything else you think you might need! And if you have a dog, bring the dog. Always bring the dog.

ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?

Unless otherwise specified, I will travel within my area/region with no additional cost. This includes most of the GTA, Barrie/Oro Medonte, and into Muskoka. If you think you might be outside of this area, drop me a line via my contact page and we can discuss additional travel or accommodations as necessary!

Want to take me with you somewhere rad outside of Ontario? Hell yeah! You’ll just need to cover my flight and accommodations — contact me for more info!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR EDITING STYLE?

My editing style usually leans more toward the more cinematic, “moody” side of the spectrum, but it does change a little here and there depending on the shoot. Generally, I go for deeper blacks and shadows, with rich jewel mid tones, and subdued highlights. You probably couldn’t use the words “light and airy” to describe my style. Important note: when choosing any photographer, make sure that you check out their editing style to know if it suits your vision! A photographer’s editing style is as unique as a painter’s choice of colours, brush strokes, etc. It becomes a part of the art of the photograph itself, and is part of what you’re investing in, so make sure you actually jive with it. I’d be more than happy to share a sample gallery to give you an idea of what you can expect of my edits, you just need to ask!

CAN I EDIT THE PHOTOS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN DELIVERED?

I ask all of my clients not to apply further edits to the photos. A large portion of the package that you choose includes the time, effort, and care that I put into editing your collection, which can often include hundreds of photos to edit and hours of hard work and meticulous retouching. This is why I always suggest you make extra sure that you like the editing style of the photographer you do hire, so that your vision is congruent with theirs.

DO YOU OFFER PRINT RIGHTS?

Yes! While the copyright belongs to me (which basically just means you wouldn’t be allowed to distribute the photos for re-sale), you will have full print rights to create physical prints of the digital photos you receive from your session.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I GET AFTER OUR SESSION?

The short answer is: it will always vary depending on the length of the shoot and the flow of the session itself. All of my packages and photo collections include unlimited edited photos. What does this mean? I will edit and include all photos that I deem to be deliverable (within reason). Generally speaking, though, here’s what you can expect: unless otherwise specified, portrait sessions are around the 50-80 image mark, while most weddings can range anywhere from 600-1000+

CAN YOU DELIVER ALL OF THE RAW FILES FROM OUR SESSION?

I will never deliver all of the RAW files from a session. You are paying for me to deliver my very best work to you, and not all of the RAW files will be my very best (e.g. test shots, adjusting settings, a ton of duplicates, etc.). I do ensure that I take multiple shots of each and every moment, to make sure that there will be plenty of quality images for me to edit and deliver.

HOW DOES BOOKING AND PAYMENT WORK?

Once you’ve decided that you’d like to see if we’re a good fit for each other, head over to my contact page and let me know a little bit about yourself! After the initial inquiry, I’ll send you an email with a bit more detail about the next steps and what to expect, including a session/wedding guidebook with every bit of info you may need to get the ball rolling. After you decide to move ahead with booking (yay!!), you’ll receive a contract and invoice (with payment info) for my services, and an intake questionnaire to help me get to know you both a little better before we meet in person! Deposit and signed contract are both required to secure booking.
